Restaurant Review: Little B's

For those of you who like burgers and are tired of 5 Guys, Smashburger, Elevation Burger and the other burger chains, Little b’s is a great burger joint on Main Street in Tarrytown.
A cozy place that is part sports bar with plenty of flat screens and part pub-style restaurant, little b's provides outdoor casual dining alla Wimpy during the summer months.  Their signature dish is the "BYOB," build-your-own-burger, for $10. Using a small card, you can select from the many available options to create the burger to satisfy your every craving... hand it to your server and you have created the burger to satisfy your particular craving! And the burgers are really good!

Little b's also offers plenty of good appetizers as well: my favorite - the hot buffalo wings. But if you're not into burgers, (or are watching your weight), don't despair:  the menu still has a build-your-own-salad item for $10 that is also delicious. And the service is good!!!!!

When the NBA and NHL playoffs are in full swing, you can enjoy a good burger and not miss any of the televised action! It is certainly worth it to check out Little b’s!

Restaurant Review: Half Moon in Dobbs Ferry

Half Moon on the hudson in Dobbs Ferry is a well renowned restaurant throughout the Rivertowns with a great reputation and an amazing location. On 1 High Street Dobbs Ferry, this beautiful restaurant  sits on the Hudson River with a view of the palisades and the iconic New York City skyline.

Half Moon serves casual, yet sophisticated American cuisine with a wide variety of food on the menu. The food consists of small plates, raw foods, salads, sandwiches, Large plates, and extras. This menu ranges from fried calamari, mac & cheese, chilled lobster, chipotle caesar salad, the half moon classic burger and even a prime rib of beef au jus.

Along with the food menu, there are also many Beers and Wines. They divide up the drinks on the menu By the Glass, Wines they Love, Sparkling Bubbles, Worldly Whites, Worldly Reds, Distilled Spirits, Draft and Bottled Beers, and Specialty Cocktails.
I recently had lunch at Half moon and I had an amazing experience. The weather was perfect, the sun was shining bright, there was a slight breeze, and I got to enjoy one of the best views of the Hudson River. To start I was given a bowl of bread, olive oil, salt, pepper, and fresh cheese. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wings to start, with the Guacamole which had charred tomato salsa and crispy tortilla chips, and also ordered blistered Peppers. Not only was I more than satisfied with my view on the Hudson but I also loved the food. Everything taste marvelous and was served eloquently. For My main dish I decided to got with the Half Moon Classic Burger with double smoked bacon, caramelized onions and a choice of American, Cheddar, Swiss or Bleu cheese. The Burger was cooked perfectly as the burger, bacon, cheese and onions worked together wonderfully.

Half Moon is just one of the five very successful waterfront restaurants the Fort Pond Bay Company owns. Fort Pond Bay Company owns Harvest on Fort Pond Montauk, Harvest on Hudson in Hastings, Half Moon Dobbs Ferry, Stone Lion Inn Montauk, and East by Northeast Montauk.

Fort Pond Bay Company does an excellent job creating a comfortable environment with outstanding waterfront views and unbelievable foods.

Halsey Pond

Halsey Pond  Park is the epicenter of Irvington: it is the place where practically every Irvington resident  can walk to in under 10 minutes.  With three entrances to Halsey Pond in complete opposite areas of Irvington at Castle Road,  Hamilton Road and Havemeyer Road, residents are reminded of how small and close-knit the town truly is. The Pond is a common spot to find walkers and joggers since there is a path around the pond that is roughly a quarter-mile long.  The Irvington Recreation Center fills the pond with a variety of fish each year making it the perfect spot for fishing with fish varying in size from 6 inches all the way towards two feet long!

Halsey Pond is one of Irvington’s best kept secrets as not only is it a beautiful natural resource but it is also home to the Halsey Tea House, the last remaining structure on a once-grand estate that was built in 1905.  The Tea house is a  little turn-of-the-century castle, with an open hexagonal tower featuring gothic-arched windows.and a roof terrace overlooking the pond that was restored in 1997.

Restaurant Review: Irvington's Bistro & Pizza

Stone Fire Pizza is one of the newest restaurants in Irvington and serves excellent, family style, Italian cuisine.  Located at 76 Main Street, Stone Fire Pizza sits right in the heart of "downtown" Irvington.

This isn't like your typical pizzeria as Stone Fire Pizza is a sit-down restaurant with an excellent atmosphere, a variety of dishes, and top-of-the-line service.

When you walk in to SFP, you instantly notice its state of the art brick oven and its large collection of wines. It has an inviting large bar at the front for couples and sport fans alike and the manager and servers are friendly, accommodating and just plain nice.... it's an upscale neighborhood pizzeria/restaurant/bar where everybody knows your name and one of my favorite places to eat in Irvington.

SFP's pizza pies are unmatched in the Rivertowns. The last time I went I was delighted with home made warm bread accompanied by olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette; the Stone Fire Italian Pisano pizza was a perfect blend of fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, roasted garlic, sausage and wood roasted peppers.

Although the variety of pizzas are the highlight of the menu, there is also a wide assortment of entrees made up of pastas, meats, salads and panini sandwiches.  My friends are big fans of the Grilled Tuscan Style Steak served over broccoli rabe and roasted fingerling potatoes, and the Penne Vodka with prosciutto, baby peas and vodka cream sauce.

Though SFP is more formal than your typical  pizzeria, it is also welcome to children and has a children's menu that offers classic chicken fingers, mac & cheese, and of course pizza!

Despite being new to Irvington, Stone Fire Pizza established itself as a staple in the Irvington restaurant scene. With its warm and welcoming atmosphere,  people and food, it truly represents the epitome of Irvington living. And, it is affordable!  It is a restaurant I love going to with my family and friends and I highly recommend it!
