Halsey Pond Park is
the epicenter of Irvington: it is the place where practically every Irvington resident can walk to in under 10 minutes. With three entrances
to Halsey Pond in complete opposite areas of Irvington at Castle Road, Hamilton Road and Havemeyer Road,
residents are reminded of how small and close-knit the town truly is. The Pond is a common spot to find walkers and joggers since there is a path around the pond that is roughly a quarter-mile long. The Irvington Recreation Center fills the pond with a variety of fish each year making it the perfect spot for fishing with fish varying in size from 6 inches all the way towards two feet long!
Halsey Pond is one of Irvington’s best kept
secrets as not only is it a beautiful natural resource but it is also home to the Halsey Tea House, the
last remaining structure on a once-grand estate that was built in 1905. The Tea house is a little turn-of-the-century castle, with an open hexagonal tower featuring gothic-arched windows.and a roof terrace overlooking the pond that was restored in 1997.
